Our History
In April 1907, plans were made for the formation of the first Glenwood Landing fire department in the chapel of the Glenwood Landing Church. An application for a charter was signed, and in May of that year, an old schoolhouse became the first home to the Glenwood Landing Hook & Ladder, Engine & Hose, Inc.
The department was initially equipped with a horse-drawn hook and ladder and two hose-carts drawn by the volunteer firemen themselves.
In 1928, a vote was taken to build a new fire house on the same site. Financial assistance came from local resident Benjamin Stern of Stern Brothers, New York, who brought the Manhattan architectural firm of Cherry & Matz to the project. William John Cherry and Herbert E. Matz specialized in ecclesiastical design, and the new building's church-like structure is still evident today at Headquarters (HQ).
Today, the Glenwood Fire Company provides comprehensive fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to our community.

OUR MISSION
The Glenwood Fire Company is a volunteer department chartered under the membership corporation laws of the State of New York in 1907. We provide fire and rescue services to the unincorporated villages of Glen Head, Glenwood Landing, the incorporated village of Old Brookville and part of the incorporated village of Roslyn Harbor on Long Island, New York.
Our members are committed to protecting lives, property, and the environment through discipline, preparedness, fire prevention, community education, and the mitigation of fire and other emergencies. We provide rescue and medical care in the finest and most responsive manner, always showing fiscal care and compassion for those in need.
